Anyone have one of the Polish Tantal AKs..?

The Century import like AIM Surplus has in 5.45 mm - are they solidly built? Do they function well? Any reports of any problems with these?

If you have one, how do you like it?

For one day. Took it back when I read about some of the troubles with them on the net. Seems the early CAI builds had bad Green River barrels which caused keyholing at 25 yards...

I recommend one of the Interarms and avoid Century. Atlantic Firearms had some of the Interarms (EDIT: Inter Ordnance), but required $100 deposit and a long wait. I gave up trying to reach them after about 3 months and 4 or 5 tries...

Lancaster Arms in Goodyear, AZ is supposed to be bringing in 10,000 Bulgarian AK-74s in mid-to-late November. I already own one, but will be looking to get another. They should be at the Crossroads of the West gun show Dec 6th in Phoenix.

Those Green river bbls on the Century are NOT chrome lined. The milsurp ammo is corrosive. Not a good combo.

The Tantal is great, but CAI uses a bunch of semi trained monkeys to assemble them. If you don't mind troubleshooting and possibly rebuilding, the CAI guns are OK, they're cheap. If you can't or don't want to do that, get a better build, like SC said.

Semi-trained monkeys! CAI uses only the FINEST (read cheapest, sloppiest) Monkey-Wizards on this planet to assemble their works of art. Look at the attached picture - you can just see his steely-eyed focus on generating the finest (HK91 clone) receiver possible. Almost as good as Hesse. Cough, choke, hack, spit.

Century built weapons might work OK. Then again, they might not. They're well known for having canted (rotated) front sight blocks on many of their AK series rifles, meaning that you'll have a heck of a time trying to adjust point of impact.

If you can find one of the Lancaster Tantals they are top notch! The trigger on my Lancaster is amazing. Fit and finish is top notch. It's all parked to give it that flat gray/black look.
